When COVID-19 put a stop to community sports in Zimbabwe, it also highlighted a bigger issue—food security. With many families struggling, Tag Rugby Trust (TRT) Zimbabwe stepped in, launching a project to help communities grow their own food.
Thanks to support from The Atlas Foundation, Freddie’s Flowers, and Old Mutual, more than 20 community food projects are now in motion. Local rugby clubs pitched their own food production ideas, focusing on youth-led initiatives that could make a real, lasting impact.

To kick things off, selected clubs received funding to build broiler chicken enclosures with help from National Foods, with plans to expand into egg production, maize farming, and even cricket farming.
This isn’t just about food; it’s about self-sufficiency, opportunity, and giving young people the tools to build a stronger future.
A huge thanks to our partners for making this possible!
